Too Much of a Fun Thing
wow……time is flying. It’s almost the end of January.  February 1st is looming on the horizon.  It’s the date Patches gets re-evaulated.  She said she doesn’t care.  She’s having so much fun.  In fact, she had so much fun last Sunday she  paid for it on Monday.  My bad.
I took her and her brother over to my mom’s condo for a visit. Â It was lightly snowing and so beautiful. Â And she wanted to take a walk. Â Not a “lemme sniff then go in” kind of walk but a full on “c’mon mommy you’re not keeping up” walk. Â We walked around the condo complex. Â Three times. Â The last time it was night time, it was COLD, it was dark (and scary), there was about an inch plus of snow on the ground and we had a three way tie…….I wanted to go back to the warm condo, Rooster wanted to head over yonder and she wanted to head over to west yonder. Â My feet and nose were freezing. Â What’s a mom to do, I picked her up and carried her much to her shame and chagrin. Â She hasn’t walked that much since I can’t remember when. Â And she LOVES going for walkies. Â I’ll have to post the video showing what happens when we ask Patches if she wants to go for a walkie. Â She bucks like a little bronco. Â But I should have known better. Â Monday she was tired. Â Hell, Sunday she was tired. Â She came in and was snoring in less than five minutes. Â Monday she had trouble getting up and had to be carried outside for bathroom. Â I felt awful. Â She seemed to be stiff but happy overall. Â By Tuesday she was back to motoring by herself……that happy little three legged click click thump sound.
So lesson learned, dogs like adventures too and like humans, they get so excited they can over do it and pay for it later. Â Good thing is she had so much fun and feels good. Â She continues on Palladia/Pepcid and CBD, eats like a champ, sleeps like a rock, loves like an angel. Â I love my dogs. Â I love them so much. Â I continue to hover over both of them, monitoring every little movement and snore, watching them sleep as I smile, feeding them whatever they want and hugging them. Â It’s still a hard journey. Â I still worry. Â But they don’t and that’s really what matters. Â I’m glad we took those walks.
Until next time,
xoxo

Hi Debbie..sounds like things are going well. I’m so happy for you both! I haven’t let Nitro overdo anything; I’m such a spazz when it comes to him and his health. My hubby thinks I’m too much a mother hen with him. I did, however, let my Westie overdo it when his hind leg was already sore. I was so happy to see him run around like a paper devil, then he really pulled up lame. I felt HORRIBLE! WHAT A BAD MOTHER! But he’s slowly getting better. It’s what we do…obsess over our fur kids.

LOL, you get me. One thing is for sure, I’m always in good company here. Thanks for being happy for us. You know what we’re going through and every little moment counts. I won’t let her over do it again but man…….was she happy. LOL. I hope your fur babies are well and happy too.

Oh Patches! You are such a feisty girl!! Sometimes a girl’s just gotta’ have fun!!! And I guarantee, even though she was sore the next day, Patches would say kt was worth it!!
And I agree with Patches, the best “evaluation” ks seeing her so happy everyday, not some ole’ Vet evaluation!
Can’t wait to see the video lf her getting all excited for her walks!
So thrilled she’s living life to the fullest!!
Cheering for you Patches!!!
Love!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Thank you Sally and furbies 🙂 She is indeed feisty and it’s adorable. It was so worth it to see her happy. And as for her evaluation…….the vet and I had a very good discussion. I said that no matter what the outcome I got this time with her and we are having so much fun. Now for that video……

Hello CaryGram,
My name is Denice and I was given your link while in a chat last night on Tripawd. I have a question for you. I have been researching CBD for dogs and it is impossible to find information/reviews on if it in fact works for someones pups. I do in fact have a tripawd boy named Dallas the Dynamite Trpiawd (that’s his FB page name) who I adopted (failed foster) from the Tomball hoarder who had 138 collies. I am asking about the canna-pet because of my 10 year old rough collie boy Fletcher (another failed foster) who has arthritis and degeneration in his spine and back legs. He is progressively getting worse and it is VERY difficult for him to stand up and his back left leg has started shaking some now. I want to help him as best I can. I have tried cold laser therapy and swimming therapy…both didn’t help. He is on rimadyl, pepcid and amantadine now which upsets his tummy so he burps a lot. He was on tramadol and gabapentine but we switched him.
So my question? Does the canna-pet CBD help?
Thanks,
Denice

Hi Denice,
I’m happy I’m able to help a fellow tripawd. Let me start by saying you really aren’t going to find any solid research that clearly demonstrates the benefits of using CBD for any condition for dogs. I saw a show on TV that made me want to find out more and like you I actually found very little. I talked to our vet and asked if there were any risks and if she had any experience using CBD. She said she had had one other dog on cannabis and that she felt that no matter what it did there was no harm in trying it. So I found a site online and they did have the cannabis formulation for dogs but I got her the human formulation, the CBD gold oil which is more like a thick paste in a syringe. I tried it before I gave it to my dog and then we started her out on a conservative dose, a squirt that was about the size of a grain of rice. We worked the dose up to twice a day with a squirt about a centimeter in length. I can tell you without a doubt it helped my girl feel good and it gave her a very good appetite which in turn kept her well nourished. Her bloodwork was always fine. And she was on chemo and two different oral meds, Palladia and cyclophosphamide. There are no known contraindications and we didn’t see any drug interactions. My friend has a German shepherd with hip displaysia and discomfort and he started giving it to her and it definitely helped her too but it gave her a bigger appetite and we didn’t want her to gain weight. The site that we got the hemp oil from is http://www.healthyhempoil.com and it’s a great site. I hope this is helpful information. Please feel free to ask more questions or to email me directly for information. I want to help. I wish you and your sweet Dallas the very best of luck.
xoxo
