Third day after chemo
I am sorry…….I missed a day. Â Not sure why, could be because I’m in the process of moving, my 94 year old grandmother had hip surgery for a fall that broke her hip and I may be behind on sleep by a few (hundred) days. Â But……it could also be because Patches is business as usual, eating, sleeping, barking, smiling and wagging her tail. Â Other than being a little more tired than usual she seems to be tolerating chemotherapy like a Canaan…..she is a feisty little dog and not much gets he down. Â Her appetite has been great, she has been barking at her “buddies”, sleeping soundly, not throwing up, no diarrhea….she’s doing better than we expected and we couldn’t be more thankful.
I’m in the process of researching the K9 Immunity supplements, I’ve been reading good things about it and I want to start her on it while she’s on chemo and before she begins the metronomic therapy.
I don’t regret one decision that I’ve made so far. Â I questioned the wisdom of amputation……she’s done great. Â I questioned the decision to give chemotherapy……she’s done great. Â I think ultimately this little dog loves life and all the pork chops and duck jerky it has to offer. Â She’s handling everything with the grace and pluck of her breed so I will too.
More news (or lack thereof) to come. Â And a HUGE shout out to the Tripawds team! Â They sent us treats for the dogs and an adorable bandana (Tripawds rock) and some calming tea for mom. Â As if just having the site weren’t enough. Â They are truly worth their weight in platinum.

OK this is a first: “tolerating chemotherapy like a Canaan” LOVE IT!
Really hoppy to hear things are going well. That’s one less thing to worry about right now with all you’ve got going on. I hope Grandma is doing better and gets settled into her new home easily. I’ll bet some visits with Patches will cheer her up!

LOL Jerry, she is my stoic little girl. I may have spoken a bit too soon because rather than pick an end to have an accident from she had accidents from both ends today while I was at work. Thankfully a little bit of throw up and a little bit of not quite runs (sorry if that’s TMI) and I’m sure it’s some post-chemo sequelae but still handling like a little Canaan. We are keeping a close eye on her and just letting her tell us what she needs. If it looks like a job for Cerenia we will have to figure out a way to trick her into swallowing two pills. As if. we’ll have to figure something out but for now it’s a little more watch and wait. Thanks for all of your support and kind words. I’d be nerve wracked without it! xoxo

Now yo h know we have to have pictures of Patches stylin’ her bandanna.
Patches is loving her life and thoroughly enjoying all the spoiling…that’s what it’s all about!
Maybe the chemo upset her tummy….or maybe…must maybe…it was one too many pork chops! 🙂
Please give our best to your wonderful Grandma…94 yrs. young..impressive!
